Coach SvenIt’s official. Sven Goran Eriksson is the Mexican national team manager no more.

“The decision was made because we cannot put at risk Mexico’s participation in the World Cup,” Mexican Football Federation President Justino Compean said. “We could rely on having to win all of our home games just to qualify for the World Cup.”

Sven had a 6-6-1 record with Mexico, and got off to a not so good start with World Cup qualifying. After a disastrous year for Mexican sports all around, Sven stayed less than a year at his post.

Aguirre is the projected manager, but Chepo de la Torre of Toluca is also another option being discussed.

Qualifying
México 2-1 Honduras
México 3-0 Jamaica
México 2-1 Canadá
Jamaica 1-0 México
Canadá 2-2 México
Honduras 1-0 México

HEXAGONAL
US 2-0 México
México 2-0 Costa Rica
Honduras 3-1 México

Friendlies

México 0-1 Chile
México 2-1 Ecuador
México 0-1 Suecia
México 5-1 Bolivia

I’ve been following this damn story since like 3 and its official. Not going to lie, I feel bad for him but its the best. One question: Who’s in charge of firing the fucks that fired sven? There asses in my opinion are also responsible. Sven gets 2 million out of it but im sure he feels bad as well.
Javier Aguirre huh? Well if he replaces Sven then by all means I hope he picks off from his glory days coaching the team in yester year. They say De la Torre is an option as well, but what about La Volpe? I used to hate the guy bc of personal problems with some of the players like El Bofo and Cuau but you know what at least he established an identity with this team. We were respected on a international scale when he was under the helm. Personally, pending so much needed changes with FMF officials they shouldn’t be so quick to jump the gun with Aguirre. Now to throw my biast opinion out there. Jorge Campos should be next coach! =)
