Mexico the 24th and Leading to the Reggae Boyz
FIFA World Rankings were published and Mexico remained at the 24th spot. They haven’t played extremely powerful teams so their ranking didn’t move to either side. Always remember, the FIFA rankings aren’t the most accurate. However, Spain stayed at #1.
Jamaica vs. México
11 October, 2008
19:00 hrs.
National Stadium
Kingston, Jamaica
Squad:
Goalkeepers: Oswaldo Sanchez (Santos), Guillermo Ochoa (America), Jose Corona (Tecos)
Defenders: Carlos Salcido (PSV Eindhoven), Francisco Rodriguez (PSV Eindhoven), Ricardo Osorio (Stuttgart), Rafael Marquez (FC Barcelona), Aaron Galindo (Eintracht Frankfurt), Oscar Rojas (America), Hector Moreno (AZ Alkmaar), Fausto Pinto (Pachuca)
Midfielders: Fernando Arce (Santos), Gerardo Torrado (Cruz Azul), Gonzalo Pineda (Chivas) out due to injury, Jaime Correa (Pachuca) Luis Perez (Monterrey), Giovanni Dos Santos (Tottenham), Andres Guardado (Deportivo La Coruna)
Forwards: Carlos Ochoa (Monterrey), Carlos Vela (Arsenal), Francisco Torres (Santos), Omar Bravo (Deportivo La Coruna), Matias Vuoso (Santos), Omar Arellano (Guadalajara)
With a win in Kingston, passage into the next round is safe where then the fight is on for the three World Cup spots.
My prediction: a fairly easy win. 3-0 at least.

Your prediction was way off.

Yes it was. But I being an optimistic Mexico fan was hoping for a win and taking into account Jamaica’s “football power” I made my prediction in that way. But the Reggae Boys did great and the deserved the win.

Well I don’t think Jamaica deserved it, I think Mexico just played like crap this time. Without Andres and Pavel in the middle their creativity seemed to be lacking. That seems to be their weakest link. I mean they have good enough players to replace for a missing foward or defender but the bench for the middle doesn’t have the quality of the starters. That or either Sven needs to choose better.

I’m a bit disappointed at these past 2 matches (Jamaica and Canada) and it may be a little cocky to say, but we’re as good as through.
