I was born and raised in Mexico City, and I have lived in Texas for the past 20 years. My first memories of the world cup were of Argentina 1978, but they weren’t happy ones. Mexico were crushed in the first round with a -10 goal differential. The epitome of that world cup was when Karl Heinz Rummenigge scored a goal off a Mexican free kick. Things have gotten better for Mexico, though.
I have worked in sports media on and off for the last 12 years. It’s been mostly the American variety of football, but soccer has always been my passion. I appreciate the opportunity to present my views on the Azteca style of the beautiful game.

Predictions:
Brazil is the chalk choice to win, but I got a feeling they may falter in the knockouts. That leaves the door open for England to kiss the cup.

As far as Mexico, I would like to see them get past the round of 16, and I think anything past the quarters would diefy the team. As it is, I see a quarterfinal exit to my pick to win it all: England.
