Mexicans in Europe: mixed fortunes

The Champions League looks to be over before it’s even really begun for Celtic after losing 3-0 away to Portuguese side Braga. For Efraín Juárez it was his first experience of Celtic’s legendary inability to win away from home in Europe, but they have been here before and come back from similar loses before.
Celtic at home are completely different animal and are more than capable of reversing the 3-0 defeat to the relatively unknown Portuguese team, but an unfortunate beginning to his career in Scotland nonetheless for Efraín who played 79 minutes.
About 5,500 miles away in Houston, more positive news as Chicharito scored on his debut for Manchester United against the cream of the MLS after coming on as a second half substitute.
“MLS All-Stars” is of course a contradiction in terms, but a goal is a goal and a well taken one it was too (possibly off-side but who cares?) to the delight of the 70,000 fans in the stadium – most of whom it appeared to me were Mexicans in attendance hoping to catch a glimpse of Chicharito. Great confidence booster for him even if it was against a team of amateurs. Looking forward now to the Chivas game on Friday.
