New Coach by May 15

Ovaciones, a Mexican journal, reported today that during last month’s owners meeting, May 15 was set as a deadline to find a new coach for the National team. The journal also said that a confidential source within the commission has named Javier Aguirre, Jose Pekerman, and Raul Arias as the frontrunners for the position and that names like Scolari, Mourinho, and Lippi had been removed from consideratino due to the wages that each of these men were asking for.

Personally, I would like to see Pekerman at the helm. Although he’s not a Mexican (not everyone’s perfect), Pekerman is a good coach who understands the importance of team chemistry. Pekerman has expressed interest in the job and has already named certain conditions, one of them being the inclusion of La Volpe as an external advisor.
