Make love, not vår Sven
Today the FMF announced that Mexico would play a friendly against Sweden on January 28th, 2009 in Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum at 7:30 pm PT. This will kick off the 5 game US Tour with more dates to come later. The squad will most likely feature local based players but will serve as a training ground to try out newbies for the upcoming WC qualifying.
This will be the first time Swedish coach Sven Goran Eriksson meets up with his native country while at the head of El Tri. This game is sure to be exciting because it breaks the mold of the usual countries we face in friendlies. This one is a EUROPEAN country. Seems like the federation has finally realized that we need to face these types of teams.
Tickets are now available for Visa cardholders with the tickets going on general sale December 15th. Get them now, and you’ll have the perfect Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanzaa/Holiday gift for that special El Tri fan in your life.
On January 24th, Sweden will also face the United States at the Home Depot Center.
