After suffering a heart attack late Sunday night, Antonio De Nigris, striker for Greek club AE Larissa and former Mexican international, passed away at the young age of 31. De Nigris had a nomadic career all over South America and Europe, and made 16 appearances for El Tri, scoring 4 goals. His most memorable moment in the green shirt was a screamer scored against Brazil in his first international match. He was working hard to earn another call up for the national team.

“The Larissa family mourns from today the tragic loss of 31-year-old international Mexican footballer, Antonio De Nigris,” a club statement said. “It is with deep sorrow that the administration, technical leadership, players and executives of the club would like to express their condolences to his family, particularly his spouse Sonia and five-year-old daughter Miranda.”

“An autopsy will be held at the General Academic Hospital in Larissa to determine the precise reasons of his death.”

Carlos Salcido(PSV)- Salcido played all 90 minutes in the 1-1 game against Kobenhavn and again in the 5-1 game against ADO Den Haag.

Maza Rodriguez(PSV)-Maza played all the minutes of both games against Kobenhavn and ADO Den Haag.

Hector Moreno(AZ Alkamaar)- Played in the 4-1 loss to Arsenal in the Champions League. Moreno again played all 90 minutes against Feyenoord where his team drew 1-1.

Italy

Miguel Layun(Atalanta)- Layun was not on the team sheet for the 5-2 loss against Juventus.

Greece

Antonio de Nigris(Larisa)-De Nigris did not play in the 3-1 loss against AEK Athens.

Ukraine

Nery Castillo(Dnipro)- Not entirely sure, but probably didn’t play.

Rafa Márquez will be out for 10-15 days after tearing his left calf muscle during training with FC Barcelona, the same leg he injured during the match against Chelsea in late April.

That means, he’ll miss the rest of the tour with Barca, possibly the first leg of the Spanish Super Cup against Athletic Bilbao and he’ll also miss the match against the USA on August 12. A real shame, considering he still hasn’t played one match under Aguirre this year and only 30 minutes against the LA Galaxy. It might have been risky to have called him up in the first place, considering he was inactive for about 3 months, but for sure he won’t play now.

On a positive note, FC Barcelona is working on giving Rafa a contract renewal, and a deal is only a matter of time. Guardiola holds him in high regard and it’s good to see that he still has a place in the best team in the world.

Rafael Marquez(Barcelona)- Marquez played all 90 mins in the 1-0 win against Getafe. Barcelona also advanced to the Semi’s of the Champions League where they will face Chelsea.

Guillermo Franco(Villarreal)-Franco wasn’t called up for the 0-0 draw against Vallalodid because he had some muscle problems. The yellow sub was also knocked out by Arsenal in the Champions league.

Andres Guardado(Deportivo)-Guardado provided an assist to Deportivo’s 1-0 win against Athletic Bilbao.

Hugo Sanchez(Almeria)-Almeria won 2-1 against Osasuna.

England

Carlos Vela(Arsenal)- Arsenal were knocked out of the FA Cup by London rivals, Chelsea. Vela stayed all 90 mins on the bench. Arsenal also progressed in the Champions League and will face Manchester United in the Semi-Finals.

Giovanni Dos Santos(Ipswich)- Gio played all 90 mins in Ipswich’s 3-2 win over Norwich City. He scored a goal in the 62nd minute.

Germany

Ricardo Osorio(Stuttgart)- Osorio did not play in Stuttgart’s 3-0 win over Koln due to a slight injury that has kept him on the bench the last couple of weeks.

Netherlands

Carlos Salcido(PSV)- Carlos Salcido played all 90 minutes in the 6-2 win over Ajax.
