Witch doctor worries
A member of the Iranian Football Federation is worried that Mexico may put witch doctors on the payroll to help put a hex on Team Melli.
FFI Executive, Ali Pour even went on to suggest that recent injuries to Ali Karimi, Vahid Hashemian, and Mehdi Mahdavikian could have been influenced by this withcraft.
“Mexico are experts at psycholigical warfare, and may even use medicine men. This sorcery could have effected some of our players and may be related to the injuries of Karimi, Hashemian, and Mahdavikian in the Bundesliga.” Luckily for Iran, the players’ faith will help them ward off these evil Mexican spirits.
“We have taken adequate measures to counter this type of trickery, and we beleive that true beleivers will never succumb to this type of magic. The Iranian team has a very profound faith, which will protect them like an unpenetrable fortress.”
I certainly don’t think that the game vs. Iran is going to be a cake walk, far from it. But if Mexico were lucky enough to win the game, that would be the absolute best excuse I have ever heard.

Iran really doesn’t want to play Ivory Coast. They actually use witchcraft. have for years.

They should be worried about getting their players ready for the match. This idiocy about witch doctors just baffles me.
In fact, I do hope we beat them, because this type of lame excuse should not exist in the sporting arena.
Indirectly, they are saying that we are cheating already, and I don’t find that to be nice at all (as laughable as the excuse sounds).

Man that is just dumb, actually the Mexican with doctor put a spell on the English team… but that was back in ‘66 and I guess that it arrived a little late (we Mexicans and our lack of punctuality).
But it might make some sense after all, I think Lavolpe introduced Mahdavikian to his second wife. That rascal Lavolpe, always pimping other people.
To bad we haven’t put a spell on Portugal, that would’ve made things a lot easier.

Yeah. If Mexico beats Iran, it will be only due to their witchery. Ha-Ha. Iran is very funny.
Note: A Guru form Ecuador went to some stadiums in order to keep bad spirits from the World Cup as well as help the Ecuatorian team win.

Iran is making spiritual arrangments for a strong wind during their match with mexico. Heck, even a moderate wind would blow borgetti away (el es muy muy flaco). Also, it’s a little known fact that “el tri” is Persian for “sent home early”.

Man those Iraninan already making excuses!!! if we beat them it wont be because we been preparing 2 months in advance or because we got better players but because witchcraft! that’s just lame…a lot of people from this blog truly believe Iran will beat us you know what from what I’ve read their federation doesn’t seemed to be too organized and some of their players are falling like flies. On the other hand our team seems to be geling in their preparations to the WC but I’m sure its all going to be thanks to our brujos(wizards)

To seriously make a statement about us using witchcraft, the very idea, sure we know about the rain dance but does it really work? It’s just an excuse to loose and get away with it…

I find that insulting. Iran is no match for Mexico, thats a waste. I think the Witch Doctors are saving their mana points on the Portugal.

Guys, guys, guys!
Before we start getting carries away read my post in the Iran blog.
http://iran.worldcupblog.org/group-d/mexican-voovoo.html
I am fluent in Persian (I should be as I am one!), and I search the website to which the DPA report refers, and I could find no such article.
I can tell you that all of us Team Melli fans have a lot of respect for Mexico and we are more worried about your skillful players and not “Voodoo”.
Cheers,

[...] Not to be outdone is a member of the Iranian Football Federation who voiced his opinion last month that Group D opponent Mexico isn’t above using a little witchcraft to gain a World Cup advantage. Never fear, he said, “We have taken adequate measures to counter this type of trickery, and we believe that true believers will never succumb to this type of magic. The Iranian team has a very profound faith, which will protect them like an impenetrable fortress.” [...]

according to Sportbild Lavolpe has said we have not much chances to show ourselves in 2006, we use a witch against Iran. He said that look at Iran’s injuries and then you believe.
The newspaper said in Mexixo many people believe in witch craft and Lavolpe is doing this in order to keep the minds busy.
The Iranian ooficial Alipour said: Witch craft does not exist. It is nonsense. So many injuries in our team is not a good thing, but also not exceptional. It has nothing to do with witch craft and can happen to any other team.
