Who’s on the field tomorrow?

May 31st, 2006 | By: John | 7 Comments »

With reports that Ricardo La Volpe used all 4 of his forwards on the field at the same time, there is no telling who will be on the field tomorrow in Eindhoven. What is clear is that Rafa Marquez will return to the back line.

My probables

GK Sanchez
DEF Marquez, Osorio, Salcido
CARR Castro, Pineda
MF Pardo, Sinha, Bravo
FW Borgetti, Franco

Franco played horribly last game, I’m starting to have doubts about him, he looks too nervous on the field, Fonseca should get a chance.

Franco should play the AM or CF position… with Borgetti and Kikin/Bravo as spearheads…

Franco really sucks he should be replaced with kikin the only reason he is on the team is because he is argentinan just like La Volpes nephew or son in law that coach is a coomplete idiot….the front should be Borgetti with bravo an kikin in the front… jimmy Lozano should have been on the team so should C.Blanco but once again the stupid coach

All I know is that it’s at 4:00 am here in Sydney, so that makes it 1:00 pm Mexico City time (same Central Time in the US, and I believe this is daylight time at the moment, so that would make it 13:00 CDT)

I agree that Franco should sit this one out and let Borguetti and Fonseca play up front with Bravo tucked in just behind them. This will create some good scoring chances. I think 4 forwards on the pitch is a little much. Marquez in the back again will give confidence to the rest of the defense. Suarez off the bench is the better option. I would like to see more out of of the wingers as they seemed a little flat against the big hard tackling defense of France. The wingers should have more open space as the Dutch like to run and gun. I think Bravo is going to be key in the WC as he seems to be the most versatile and creative player on the offense. As an outright striker I think his talents are wasted as he is too small to bang with defenses. That task should be left to the bigger forwards on the team.

Coach chemical imbalance will probably go with a 4-3-3 to match Holland’s 4-3-3.

Where France was incredibly strong in center midfield, Holland is strong on those wings. Castro, Ramon, and Guardado are going to have a hard time pushing up because of the pressure Robben, Van Brockhorst, Van Persie and company are going to put on them. Luckily for Mexico, nobody is better conditioned than Mexico’s wingers.

Look for Kikin, Guille, and Bravo up front in the first half.

Borgetti and Arellano in the second matching with Guille. As bad as Guille looks they need to get him in rythm with other players.
