Who stays in Europe?

June 21st, 2006 | By: John | 17 Comments »

The rumors are rampant about which players will ply their trade in the old country this fall. The latest involves Oswaldo Sanchez, who is linked to Hannover.

Carlos Salcido has received interest from both Spanish clubs and English clubs. Memo Ochoa will be playing in Spain next year, as will Rafa Marquez. Jared has a year left on his Bolton contract.

Is there anyone else who merits consideration for a tour stop in Europe?

Bravo was mentioned as a possible option in Germany, and i still believe that if Guardado get to play and does it well, he would be snatched fast, because of his youth.

However, all of this will only happen if Mexico keeps advancing. Just remember the exodus of players after Mexico 86 (Negrete, Flores, Aguirre).

Mexico already has a few of the kids there. As you guys already know Giovani Dos Santos is already playing with Barca’s B team and has been there for a couple years now or more. His little brother Jonathan, whom his father, Zizinho, says has even more potential than the older Dos Santos.
Carlos Vela got signed by Arsenal but is on loan to Celta de Vigo until he turns 18 and is eligible to play with Arsenal.
A couple of the other younger players from the U-17 champions have been linked to the Old Country as well.

As for the players currently on the team now, I havent heard anything outside of what you wrote John. Quite honestly, I dont think they’ve really shined all that bright to merit much attention at all outside of Oswaldo and maybe Bravo. I hope they come out of this slump and show the rest of the world what we already know and expect from them.

In my opinion i belive Salcido should stay In europa no matter what team it is. if we take a look back at Rafa Marquez, that by far its the Best Mexican soccer player, he started in a good french team but not a big club like tha one he’s now. I know money matters but if you are “Perseverante” you will get where u want to. So i hope a lot of our player get drafted and stay in Europe

Kikin starts angainst portugal, scores on a beautiful header, and the match is only 30 minutes in,so that might help his chances!

OMAR BRAVO just cost himself millions of dollars, and fame and glory by missing those two goals today and missing out on the golden boot.

Guys, Omar Bravo has been playing great, true he totally let us down by missing that PK, but that only means if he ends up with a European team, then he will be at the bottom of the list for taking PKs.

nah, omar blew it man..im so mad…he doesn’t have the size to compete with euro teams…if he had the skill of messi, and could sink in those goals he was supposed to make..then i’ll be like ‘its cool man..no biggy..everyone misses” BUT, hes a small guy that can do danger in the mexican league…yeah sure can do some damage against some okay teams, but isn’t at the five start level…i give him a two stars out of 5….he deserves more, but he has to work for it..im so mad…freakin PK.

although i dissagree with you about the comparison to messi(messi is coming into being one of those elite in the world.). i agree he may have blew it with the pk..but its been his problem his hole career..he has no shot .im a chivas fan and ive seen 90% of his games.he has an incredible ability to free himself of markers but he doesnt have the finishing touch

what??? que??? was????? che???? Bravo skills???? Bravo has ability to free himself of players of 5′5 height like the rest of EL TRI, but he will not be able to free himself against Marquez, Puyol, Bravo (madrid), Thuram, Ferreira. Im proud to be mexican, but this guy has no skills for Europe.. This is the world cup guys, not the mexicans league. He shouldnt have missed that PK or the the other 10 chances he had to score. He screwed himself up.

let’s be honest. The only mexican soccer players that have the talent to be in Europe are: Salcido, Memo Ochoa, Lucho Perez, Marquez, Borgetti, Gringo Castro, Pardo and Bofo Bautista. Besides these players, no one else has the the talent and effort to be in Europe……Mexico had no forwards this world cup… #$%^ Lavolpe should have taken Blanco and Bofo

I don’t think Bofo would have been a good selection for the squad. I only see flashes of brilliance with him….too much inconsistency. I’m disappointed that Mex didn’t go further, but very proud of the last game against Arg. They played with a lot of heart! Can’t wait til next WC. Bring on the U-17 players!!!

Ricardo osorio (cruz azul) and Pavel pardo (america) going to Stuttgart (germany). Osorio $ 4.5euros Pardo 1.0 euros…… The 18 year old Guardado waiting for response from Inter. Salcido who i think showed his best in this world cup and was the best of el TRI, waiting from response of Arsenal…..Go Mexico…. vamos

“Bofo” Bautista should’ve gone to Germany because him and Blanco have the same type of game they both make good passes, have many assists, score goals, and throw themselves when sombody touches them. Sometimes it works :)
