Sven’s Not In It For The Money; Ludeña To Become A Citizen
Its common knowledge that Sven is making a good deal of money being Mexico’s coach. Whether you think he deserves it, or not is a different matter. Recently in an interview with the magazine World Soccer he revealed his economic issues, worst time as a manger, and whether he believed that Mexico would make it to South Africa 2010.
Daniel Ludeña also came out to say(not in the magazine, elsewhere) that he wants to play for El Tri.
WS:$4 million Euros is the amount that’s been mentioned as your salary when you were England’s Manager.
SGE: It’s not true. It was less, much less.
Sven also mentioned that he had other chances to make money.
I’ve had offers of a lot of money to write a book, but I don’t want to do it at this moment.
He also singled out his stint at Man City as the worst in his managerial career.
Yes, it was the worst. Since 1976 when I started as a manager I was never unemployed. They never fired me. I’d never been so anxious my entire life. I also remember when I read a book, The Managers of England: The Impossible Job. It was about all the managers that have passed through the English national team and all of them were fired.
WS:Do you think Mexico will be in the South African World Cup next year?
SGE:For me personally, and Mexico they should be. If not, I’ll be fired and they’ll be in their right to do it.
Also, Daniel Ludueña has said that he wants to become a Mexican citizen and be considered for the national team. The Argentine-born midfielder plays for Santos Laguna and has been 4 years with the league.
“You have to work for it(a call-up), and if I get the call I’ll defend the shirt until death.”
His flag will be changed to a Mexican flag from an Argentinean flag for Mr. Ericksson.
