Probables for Congo

May 11th, 2006 | By: John | 3 Comments »

Ricardo La Volpe had this group playing together yesterday as they prepped for the upcoming match vs. the Congo DR.

GK — O. Sanchez
DEF — J. Castro, R. Osorio, C. Suarez, C. Salcido, A. Guardado
MF — P. Pardo, Zinha, J. Arellano
FW — O. Bravo, F. Fonseca

As he always does, there will likely be some alteration to this line-up at game time. The team Congo DR are bringing are not the “regulars” who are scattered among the euro leagues. Should discipline be a concern with players who have limited international experience? I hope we don’t see too many wild tackles where players get hurt.

So far, only 23 000 tickets have been sold for the game. I’m expecting around 60-70 K.

At the same time though, the team coming is the one who played the African Cup, so it is not like this is the first time these kids are playing together.

It should still be an interesting match. The only problem is, being at the Estadio Azteca, chances are they will run out of oxygen by the second half. Usually matches in that stadium against Mexico show some very misleading results.

Hmmm… that contradicts what their coach was saying in an interview yesterday. That, or he didn’t understand the question.
