Getting ready to Germany, I’ll be posting profiles of the Mexicans players so you can get to know them. Since we still don’t know who is going to Germany, there are some players who have their ticket already. One of them is Rafa Marquez, who although, is injured right now, he is 90% positive on going to the World cup. So that said:

Rafael Márques was born on Zamora, Michoacan on February 13th. he is 29 years old (born on ‘79). He is 182cm tall and weighs 74 kilos. He now plays with Barcelona, and he is the first mexican to ever do so. He started in Guadalajara with Atlas (96-99) his debut on the Mexican League was at age 17. After that ate age 20 he was drafted by AS Mónaco where he played from 99 to 03. With that team he won the French League on 2000, year on which he was named ideal center defender on that competition. He won the French Cup on 03. With Barcelona he won the League on 04-05.

He’s captain of the Mexico National Team, where he has won FIFA Confederations Cup in 1999, Gold Cup in 2003. He has also participated in the American Cup in 99,01 and 04; as well as

He can play midfielder (as he does in Barcelona), but he’ll be more likely found as a Defender in Germany. Great player with attitude and a lot of leadership. This is definitly his year, waiting to win the Spanish League, Champions League, and hoping he can bring the World Cup back to Mexico.

So this summer look for number 4 on the Green Jersey for great defending and good outside of the area shots.
