I was pretty freaking close with my list. The Blanco snub is causing some Mexicans to denounce their team. I am admittedly surprised he is not on this list, but I can’t argue with what the Brodi said, he is hurt, not playing well, we play a rigid system that doesn’t allow for free lancers. I am really happy that Lavolpe extended his list to 26, namely for Jimmy Lozano who has a chance to show his worth from ground zero. Lavolpe must have been reading thsi blog.

Actually you where John. I don’t think the Blanco situation will be as bad as we thought. It is strange tough that having the chance to pick 26 players, why dont get 27, in case Blanco plays extremely well in the league the next games, and that Sinha doesn’t recover. Because if he doesn’t then you’ll need a Game maker.

Anyway, I think the list is good. I’m pretty confident we’ll do well in the Worlcup.

So, who do you think the 3 players left behind are going to be?

My picks:

1. Israel Lopez
2. Mario Mendez
3. “Chiquis” Garcia (although emparented with Lavolpe)

Give your thoughts!

I’m ok with the list. They are the people Lavolpe needs and we shall be OK. Blanco is a good player in the twilight of his career, but he also is a problem maker among gropus and he denied a call to the team just because “he was tired”. That’s unacceptable.

BTW, it’s Antonio Naelson “Sinha”, not Anronio ;)

I also think Chiquis García, Jaime Lozano and Israel Lopez won’t be in the final 23

Viva México!!!!

Blanco did seal his fate by not going to the Confed Cup. No one quetions his talents, but he generates a lot of negative energy, evidently enough to not be considered. As far as the three who may not make it, it is going to be 3 midfielders. Arellano may not be fit enough to go, Israel Lopez and Torrado will duke it out, and Chiquis and Jimmy are fighting for that last spot.

I agree with you both. Cuauhtemoc Blanco’s talent was never on question, but 1. his health and 2. his attitude where.

I don’t know if you can cut the 3 midfielders, because I think their is a specific number of keepers, defenders, midfielders and strikers you can take.

Being 3 for keepers, 4 for strikers and 8 for defenders and midfielders. Even if you consider Guardado and Pineda as defenders you still have 9 and 10 midfielders, so you have to cut 1 Defender, and 2 midfielders.

I really hope Torrado doesn’t get cut. He is great, and was great last world cup.

SO THIS IS IT PEOPLE, WE ARE LOOKING FOR ONE DEFENDER AND TWO MIDFIELDERS TO NOT MAKE IT TO THE FINAL LIST, WHO’S IT GONNA BE??

I think Lavolpe gave a very fair list. Those who thought he was going to call his “friends” Osorno and Juan Pablo Rodriguez were in for a surprise.

As for who will be out, I see either Arellano or even Sinha being out if they don’t rehab as well as they should. I also think that Suarez will be offered to participate as an advisor rather than a player.

The team looks really solid if, and it is a really big if–all the injured players return to form and we have no further injuries. If we stay healthy and get players back such as Arellano, the team will make a deep run.

The only other concern is the size, speed and strength of the midfield with Pardo, Torrado, Morales, Sinha, and Lopez.

This leads to the logical conclusion that a healthy Marquez will be pushed up to supplement the mids w/ muscle and size and Arellano will come in as a sub for speed.

[...] Our Czar of the USA Blog, Daryl, must have been inspired by Mexico coach Ricardo La Volpe’s early selection of Mexico’s World Cup roster because he is ready to announce the roster for the United States team this summer. For the past week, Daryl and the blog readers have been busy helping out coach Bruce Arena with the Yanks selection. The results are in and according to the readers the following players will be wearing red, white and blue in Germany this June. [...]

The only player in the list that should’ve gone in my opinion is Diego. We’ve discussed the Blanco situation a lot, and I don’t think Osorno has what it takes.
