Mexico Squad for Ghana Friendly
Mexico coach Ricardo Lavolpe left Cuauhtemoc Blanco off the roster for the upcoming friendly against Ghana in Texas. Instead he called up uncapped Luis Angel Landin and Argentine-born fellow-striker Guillermo Franco. I don’t know why Lavolpe keeps playing these mind games with Blanco. The guy is a proven goal scorer and deserves a spot in the World Cup. As for the rest of the team, it looks pretty solid:
Goalkeepers: Oswaldo Sanchez (Guadalajara), Jesus Corona (UAG)
Defenders: Jose Antonio Castro (Club America), Diego Martinez (Guadalajara), Javier Rodriguez (Guadalajara), Ricardo Osorio (Cruz Azul), Joel Huiqui (Cruz Azul), Gonzalo Pineda (Guadalajara), Mario Perez (Necaxa)
Midfielders: Pavel Pardo (Club America), Antonio Naelson (Toluca), Luis Perez (Monterrey), Jose Andres Guardado (Atlas), Gerardo Torrado (Cruz Azul)
Strikers: Guillermo Franco (Villarreal/SPA), Jared Borgetti (Bolton Wanderers.ENG), Omar Bravo (Guadalajara), Luis Angel Landin (Pachuca).

Blanco is injured, so there is no reason risk further injury. He will be on the call-up list that matters.

Hi Roberto-
Surely Blanco will make the final selection. He seems to mean a lot to the Mexican side. Is there some friction between he and Lavolpe?

I agree! I like Borgetti getting called up for this one, he hasn’t played in el tri for a while.

I THINK BLANCO SHOULD BE A PICK TO THE WORLD CUP.HIS INJURED BUT WHO CARES.HIS A GOOD PLAYER.HE PASSES THE BALL GOOD.HE MAKES GOOD PLAYS.HIS ONE OF THE BEST IN MEXICO.THE ONLY THING THAT HE NEEDS TO WORK ON IS HIS ANGER AND HE NEEDS TO STOP FALLING.(NO OFFENSE)
