Vick. I agree with you at the moment that one win does not make one team better than the other. Programs usually shift dramatically for national teams from one world cup cycle to the other and working with the younger Sub-23 and Sub-21 teams usually strengthen the teams when these kids get older. My point is that these processes have become more stronger in a lot of CONCACAF countries making their teams stronger. Take the 1980's. México was the only powerhouse in CONCACAF. Now its not so. Many agrgue that the US has taken that role consistantly winning matches over México. Central American teams do not yet have supremacy over México but they now can go into México and win more often. What this means for México is that they can't take any match for granted as they used to. They are going to have to be more humble and treat avery match as if it were Brasil they were playing. CONCACAF is more coompentative and no longer will México have an easy road to the World Cup. Relax a bit guys, this is good for all of CONCACAF, including México.

well, if you ask me.....it doesnt really change anything..even when Guatemala came out with a victory, it doesn't change the fact that Mexico is better. I do not go this conclusion because I just say so, they just wanted to beat mexico anyway possible...but if you see the results for other matches against other country, Guatemala looses or has hard times.
They say(Roberto Medina) that guatema didnt have all the players or missing, but they played against 20 something yr old guys. Probably for guatemala this a big win(after yrs), but for mexico is just a small loss.

Do your research! From Guatemala, Dwight Pezzarozi, Chalo Romero, Guillermo "El Pando" Ramirez and many of other excellent Guatemalan players were missing. El Bolillo Gómez is trying to find new talent and as the México Guatemala game proved, it shows he is getting some success. There is a fútbol world outside of México. Face it, CONCACAF is growing. You should be happy about that. That way your beloved México doesn't have to go play in Europe to loose. Jajaja...And why do you talk so highly about Europe when we have great soccer here in the Américas (Conmenbol y Concacaf) by the way, read this:

Ante las malintencionadas preguntas de la prensa mexicana que interrogó a Gómez sobre si todos le jugarían a México “fuerte” en la eliminatoria, insinuando que Guatemala había pateado, el “Bolillo” les respondió que, “Yo he enfrentado a México con Colombia, Ecuador y Guatemala y nunca vi que los sudamericanos se quejaran, ni que los mexicanos dejaran de meter duro.
http://www.guatefutbol.com/content/view/1153/64/

http://www.jornada.unam.mx/2007/10/17/index.php?section=deportes&article=a21n1dep

“Hubo declaraciones en México del 'Tuca' Ferreti (Técnico de Pumas) de que ellos iban a jugar contra 'Guatepeor', y se dieron cuenta de que no fue así”.

Sub-23, yep, well, I can argue the same for Guatemala, most were new kids on the block. El Bolillo Gómez has not called many of the better players from last qualifier. So.....whats your excuse now????? Guate also had a young team. The only difference was they weren't boasting about wining a game that hadn't been played yet. You Mexicans sometimes think you are the best...no humility!!!! Ávila, the kid whho scored 2 goals on you Mexicans was only 21yrs old. That was his debut game with La Seleccion!!! PREPOTENTES!!!!!!

Actually I CAN argue. You won against kids!!!. Wow what a man, and you have to think about it really. Few veterans were there! Oh say about 4!! If Mexico had their Copa America team would you realize that Guatemala has no chance. Statistics shows it! You guys basically played the Sub-23 team! Lol now I know why when Guatemala wins any inferior team they think they can beat anyone! HAHAHA Once Guatemala beats some European teams I'll give them respect..but for now..they're still inferior.
