Mexico Considers Big Coaching Names

October 3rd, 2006 | By: WC Bob | 14 Comments »

If you are to believe Mexican Football Federation’s president Justino Compean, the next coach of Mexico’s national team will be a household name. Compean has been quoted as saying he is considering managers like Marcelo Lippi, Luiz Felipe Scolari and Juergen Klinsmann to replace the now departed Ricardo La Volpe.

“For the appointment of the new coach, we will think first about the sporting side before any other aspect,” explained Compean. “So we can include trainers like Marcelo Lippi, Luiz Felipe Scolari and Juergen Klinsmann, to mention a few.

“We must have a coach who fulfills the expectations of the fans in Mexico.”

The Mexico gig is a pretty good one, but I find it hard to believe that Compean has the resources to bring in one of those managers nor would they necessarily be the best coaches. None are all that familiar with Mexican football or its players.

mexico just signed a sick-ass contract with adidas, so right now the federation is loaded with money. hopefully we’ll get a big name coach this time ’round, not some argentine bench-warmer with a bad temper…

Hopefully, the Mexican coaches will vote with care. As much as I want to see Hugo lead Mexico to glory, which they are entirely capable of acheiving, he is alot of talk. Took Pumas to glory then abandoned them when when they fell on tough times. Assumed the role at Nexaca and has not turned them around yet. The best fit for Meixco is Lippi. His record as a coach is fantastic and his ability to put conflicting personalities together and win is proven with his leadership in both Serie A and the Italian national team. Lippi understands the art of the attack as well as an inpenteterable wall of denfense. Mexico has the talent. They are home to one of the more exciting soccer leagues, recently, and some of the key leaders on the national team are playing abroad. 2010 will be the year of El Tri in Africa if they stay healthy and beleive in themselves.

Mexico with Carlos Vela, Gio2Santos, Landin, Osorio, Rafa Marquez, Pavel Pardo, Salcido, Andres Guardado, Cuahtemoc Blanca, and more to come, will be a great match to any of the Superpowerhouse in 2010. I am sure Hugo will be the Nation’s coach.

I feel so sorry for the USA because they really don’t have any quality players like we do, and yet they are so scattered that they have not come out with a plan yet. All of their national team players are too old and ready to retired. Yet they talked about us recruiting foreign players, when they got Fredy Adu, who wasn’t even born in the US. They even claim that Giovanni Dos Santos is not from Mexico, when in fact he was born in Monterry, Mexico.

Hugo will finally get the opportunity to prove waht’s he capable of, he will etiher be the one who will lead Mexico to greatness or just a great retired player with dreams and illusions.

It is always dangerous bringing in a coach that does not know the player personnel.
