It’s Argentina
I guess Holland were so affraid of facing Mexico in the 2nd round that they have ceded first place to Argentina by virtue of their goalless draw today. That leaves Argentina playing Mexico, and the Dutch will square off vs. Portugal. Both games are rematches of semi final games from the Confed cup and Euro 2004.
Argentina have been one of (if not) the most impressive teams of the tournament, so Mexico have a huge wall to climb if they want to play in Berlin next Friday.

Well said Louie! I think we are all true fans of El Tri….we live and die for this team. Yes many of us feel very let down, including myself, by their performance but they are our team, they are our paisanos, they are our brothers! We are Mexico cabrones! Que viva Mexico hijos de la chingada!

I’d like to make a bet with all the people from argentina who are writing here, but I know they don’t have any money left for betting, they only have for food and one pair of shoes a year, Sorry Argentinos 3-1 Mexico

Well its not going be easy! Mexico might pull the upset and surprise a lot of people. If they lose,oh well they lost to a great team.Nothing worse than losing to a bad team.I just hope they dont go into sudden death penalties! Peace!

Wow. i hate MEXICO and PK’s
I love my team, but I get so stressed when we are about to kick a PK.
I was actually OK when the portugal guy was kicking, For some reason I feel it’s harder to kick it than take it.
Does anyone else feel this way with mexico? I don’t know why, but i do..

Relax everyone. We know it’s going to be a Brazil-Germany final. Mr. Sepp Blatter will ensure it.
Didn’t you watch the world cup 4 years back? If the Koreans weren’t so inept, then FIFA would have got the Brazil-Korea final it so desperately tried to set up.

Yeah this is goint to be a hard fought game.I think the team will be motivated to show the world that we’re better that what we’ve shown until now.
This a team that won’t come to the field and just be happy to be there remember that our goal is to play that 5th game out of our home.
Argentina has shown what a great team they are but from what I’ve heard everyone is already putting them in the quarter finals well not if our Tri has anything to say….
One thing is for sure if this game is decided in PK I’m just going to stop watching but wouldn’t it be awesome if we beat them like that? it will mean we finally take that monkey of our back.
I just hope our beloved Tri leaves everything they got on the field that’s all I ask(well and maybe no Maza in the field)
Vamos Mexico si se puede!!!

This is going to be a good game. I am expecting El Tri to finally show the football they are capable of playing. The teams match up well with each other and LaVolpe knows the tactics of Argentina. It will be physical but Mexico can win this. Borgetti should be back and it would be great to see him partnered up with Fonseca. Marquez should move back to defense and will redeem himself from the last game as he will be in his more natural role. Bravo should play just behind Fonseca and Borgetti. Torrado and Pardo have to have the game of their lives. They really need to be on their game in both in distribution and ball recovery for Mexico to have a chance to win. The wingers have to be utilized for the game to open up for them. Its a shame that LaVolpe did not give Guardado some playing time because if he steps in now its a real pressure cooker for your World Cup debut. The midfield of Mexico makes me so nervous, I just pray that they finally step up and Mexico can finish those chances with som clinical finishing. I am also concerned with team cohesiveness as LaVolpe has tinkered with the line-up so much over the last three games the chemistry is lost. We will see.

I’m curious about whether Franco is conflicted about facing Argentina. Do you think Lavolpe is even concerned about this? I’ve been asking he not play since the WC started but you never know, this might motivate him to play better than ever. Wouldn’t it be great to see him score a goal against his country?

Won’t you feel a little dirty if a Franco goal is the difference in the game? I’ll be sure to read the headlines in Argentina if (and that’s a very big if) that happens.

franco has said he will not celebrate a goal against argentina..as my girlfriend says “why is he playing then? he ought to recuse himself!”

I’m with ya Louie… Mexico and PK’s give me gray hairs.

Mexico is really poor at finishing yet alone pose a threat to the Argentine defense.
I’m sorry to see S.American team face each other so early in the cup but Mexico are really cocky and have lost some of their latin side, so Argentina gonna whoop your ass.

How are Mexicans cocky? Especially when were facing the cockiest team of them all.
John: I thought about it…and you’re right. I would feel way dirty if he scored a goal for us. If what Sergio said is true than he better not even play. His game has sucked anyways.
Let’s go boys…let’s get it done!

I am so nervous for tomorrows game.
The world is against us. But I know for a FACT that this game is the game Argentina is sweating most over. Pffft. Argentina is the most cockiest self righteous futbol team I have ever seen. They are a good team but they are the rabbit and we are the turtoise. Don’t underestimate us. SI SE PUEDE.

Chavy.. what are you smoking. MEXICO COCKY!!!! We have heart, we say we are contenders, that’s it.. When have you ever heard us say we are the best in the world.
Argentina has said they are the best for the last 20 years. Maradodna, Batistuta, the whole Hand of God..
hmmm pretty cocky.
The cokyest player is blanco, and he is not on the team. The second cockyest player is LA VOLPE .. and YUP you guessed it.
HE IS FROM ARGENTINA. so yeah, Chevy get your little cocky butt out of this bolg.. CARAJO!!!
to the franco haters: i hope franco does score, AND where did you see that sergio.. unless you actually hear those words come out of his mouth, i would not believe the mexican media, NOT ESPN DEPRTES OR FOX DEPRTES OK. OF course he will celebrate. Are you kidding, think about it. They are tied and he scores in the last minutes. His team mates are going to tackle him. The adrenaline, the rush of scoring, you are so happy, you don’t think about anything.
I remember when i scored my first goal in high school. I was a frshman in varsity, Iwas on the bench a lot. I kicked the ball and it somehow found the net. OH MY GOD did it feel good. I did not know what to do.
Can you imagine this at a WORLD CUP, that’s your dream, OF course he is going to celebrate.
Anyways enough talk about goal celebrations. I hope we beat them. I don’t care how we do it, dirty, rough, red cards flying, fights… i don’t care. this is argentina, Mexico should DIE on the field. THEY OWE IT TO US. who cares about the quater finals. SAve no players. This is our Championship chavos, And we are going to win.
VIVA MEXICO
mexico 2-1

Reading this section indicates that there are some Mexican haters around here. I know that a lot of central americans wished for Mexico to loose, and Argentina to win. All I can say is that Argentina always think they are better then any Latin American country. If Mexico win or loose, there will always be people talking trash about Mexico. That’s just the reality guys!!!

YEah i know about that..
HEre is why i think people hate us.
MY wife is from Costa Rica, a great little country. When we go visit her little country, people are alwasys trashing mexicans. WHy you you might ask? Well They are so jelous of our country. All you see on cental american TV is Televisa, ESPN deportes is all about mexico, Every central america country hates us. They hate the way we talk, they hate the way we look. They watch every telenovela, and hate how we are so stuck up. well they think everyone is a chilango, and we all hate chilangos. Ha ha ha. Anyway (no offense on the chilangos, but you guys are something else) SO the real reason they hate is I THINK because they are jelous.
In the US everyone hates us also. not only are we taking over the southwest, but we are the largest minorities. All of the central american that are in this country are always gettting comfused with mexicans. IF you call them Mexican, they get pissed.
Why do South americans Hate us?
well they really don’t I have brazilian friends, they all think we have a neat culture. Colombians and the other small countries love mexico. Many Musicians start their careers in mexico. Shakira, Juanes, they all have homes and love mexico.
So the rest of the world are always happy to see us. In euorope people are excited to see mexicans. The rest of the world has nothing againts us. They don’t think we are dirty, or druks. They don’t think we have horrible mouths. They just see the big hats, the tequila, the women, They love us all around the world.
WE ARE TO CENTRAL AMERICANS
like the US is TO europe.
Eruope hates the US. Why, Jelousy…

Yup, I agree with Bulgatti and Louie…ALL of the Mexicans know this fact. Also, I believe we have a hell of a team despite the recent performances. Too bad we have to face one of our own(although these clowns have an ego problem). I sure hope we can pimp slap the Argi’s back to their Bonbonera……Mexico hasta la murete!!! Viva Mexico cabrones!!!

Los “argies” o “ches” o como quieran llamarles jugaron al 10% de su capacidad y aún así ganaron.. (Esto va solo para los “haters”)
