Iran’s injury woes

June 4th, 2006 | By: John | 11 Comments »

From what I can gather aboput Iran’s fans, they are certainly one of the most passionate groups I have encountered, and the have very high hopes for Team Melli. As well they should, they are poised to make a big splash with easily their best team they have had in a world cup.

Unfortunately for the Iranians, they have some injury worries. I have watched a lot of world cup games over the years, and one thing I have noticed is injured players have a hard time finding their form. It may be especially difficult for the injured Iranians, as they will start the tourney going up against one of the 2 best conditioned teams in the tournament (the other being Korea).

I don’t like playing against team that are not in 100% form, and Iran will certainly be one of the in the upcoming main event.

As we’ve mentioned earlier this is the most important game in the first round and we have to come out victorius on this match any way we can.

Hope team melli’s injured players get well so we can enjoy a great game.

My pick Mexico 2 1 Iran

Luis, how about a wager?

I take Iran 2:1. The looser will buy the winner’s national jersy of choice and sign it:

“To the 2006 winner of the 2006 tri-color match”

and mail it to him.

However, we must get both the result and the score right. So if one of us wins 1:0, it is a no go. What do you say? Shake on it?

Love it!!!!

Talk about friendly soccer! Shake on it. You have my word. So, if the final score is 2-1 whoever loses buys the jersey and signs it. If its any ohter score (2-0, 1-0 etc.) nothing happens.

That’s it! You’ve got it.

So hands are shaken and the bet is on, yes?

Knowing my boys … history tells us that Mexico wins the games they are supposed to lose and lose the ones that we are supposed to win. Iran will beat Mexico 1-0. Mexico will tie with Ghana and beat Portugal 2-0. As always. I am glad we are not meeting the USA after that. :) It gets nasty.

You gotit Luis. May the best team win. Regardless of the result, I plan to enjoy and have fun.

One last thing to take care of. Just so that we don’t argue over quality of the jersy, why don’t you find an online shop that the loser will purchase the jersy from?

By the way, I want a Mexico jersy if I win :) Serious, I like Mexico, just not when they are playing Team Melli :)

ps.s There is a another guy (Beto) who wants in on the bet.

Ok, I found the Jersey at ebay.com we could do that, any other options?

As for Beto, I’ll send him a message, lol.

Have Fun. 5 days left. And I also like Iran, I don’t know if I’ll buy the Jersey if we win, but definetly get it if we lose 2-1 jeje.

Whats your email?
