Game vs. China finalized
According to Decio de Maria, FMF executive, Mexico has lined up a game vs. China to be played May 5 in the US. The likely venue will be the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, or as the stadium is known here in Austin: Vince Young’s house.
There is certain to be a festive atmosphere at the Rose since the game will played on the Anniversary of the Batalla de Puebla when the Mexican army routed its French equivalent. It’s too bad France wasn’t available!! The game will serve as the farewell for Mexican fans in the US. The FMF is still having trouble finding an opponent for its send off from the Estadio Azteca. Many countries have been approached, and now it appears that the leader in the clubhouse is now Iraq. The game is listed on FIFA’s fixture list. Nevertheless, the official stance from the FMF continues to be that they are looking for a south american or african opponent. Like I said before, Columbia and Chile will be the most likely candidates becasue they can field teams from the players that already play in the Mexican League.
Mexico played Iraq in the 1986 world cup, winning 1-0 on a goal by Fernando Quirarte.
