Franco catches Tri in Madrid

May 22nd, 2006 | By: John | 2 Comments »

Guille Franco met up with the National team as they waited to transfer in Madrid on their way to St. Etienne. That leaves only Rafa Marquez as the last player to come into the fold.

Franco has been bothered by an injury in the hip/groin region for the past few weeks, but he assures everyone that he has recovered and is ready to begin practicing with the team. Of all 23 players on the roster, Franco has been the least involved in this 4 year “proceso.” Luckily for him, he has established chemistry not only with Luis Perez, but also the Cabrito. All three were teammates at Monterrey.

You think Franco is anxious to play in a world cup? He admitted he had been x-ing days on his calendar as the world cup approached. A lot of people are angry that Franco made the team as a naturalized player. I am not one of them. Franco may hold the keys that unlock a successful world cup for Mexico.

Not only does he have the talent, but he is also a very good teammate and is emotional in a good way.

Overall, as far as locker room presence, this is one of the better groups, having Oswaldo, Kikin and Franco.

Probably only the group in France 98 had such a good number of emotional leaders (Campos, García Aspe, Luis Hernández and Ricardo Pelaez).

It’s a bit uncomfortable to have a naturalized player in the Mexican squad, but for me, the decision must be accepted because it is a done deal. At this point Mexico looses 1-0. Vamos Mexico……!!
