First Coments of the First Game (Starters, stats, facts and more)

Yesterday, John was giving his coments of what he thinks would be the starting squad this Sunday. Today I would like to post my 11 starters, some facts among other things.
My probable 11 starters
Gk.
Oswaldo Sanchez
Defenders
Rafael Marquez
Ricardo Osorio
Carlos Salcido
Gringo Castro
Gonzalo Pineda
Midfielders
Torrado
Pardo
Morales
Forwards
Jared Borguetti
Guillermo Franco
Q & A’s
Ali Daei’s hight is 1.92 wich is 10cm or more higher than the 5 defenders who I predict would start, that means that we could see “Masa ” Rodriguez on the field.
Ali Karimi is the most dangerous player on the field, that means we’ll probably see Rafael Marquez covering him. This also means that Marquez could not play on the right side of the field. Where Rafa plays depends on 2 things: Wheter Masa starts, meaning Marquez could play as a midfielder; and where Karimi plays, being the spot we should see our best defender.
Omar Bravo has been playing well as a striker, we could also see him playing with Borguetti and see Franco as a Midfielder.
Zinha could also start the game, since he’s been playing well
Tidbits
This squad has 6 worldcuppers with means we’ll be playing with a lot of experience. (Sanchez, Marquez, Torrado, Pardo, Morales and Borguetti)
Rumors
One of the Mexican TV channels mentioned the posibility of seeing Claudio Suarez Atacking against Iran.
The bet
Check this blog of an interesting bet we’re having here in Worldcupblog.org
The enemy
The 4 players we should take a look at, in Branco Ivankovic’s (Iran Coach) Squad are:
Ali Daei
Vahid Hasheiman
Javed Nekounam
Ali Karimi
Questions to the readers?
Do you think Masa would start?
Where would you put Marquez?
Would you start Bravo or Kikin?
Who would be the 3 changes we should see on the game?
Do you see Claudio as a Striker or atacker?
Whats your score on this game?

El Aclantista: I don’t remember Maza costing Mexico any games. I remember Salcido and Osorio giving up long runs against Congo, France and Holland, the latter two were losses.
Kikin Fonseca over Guille Franco. Any day of the week, against anybody, anywhere.
Kikin is one of the most prolific scorers in national team history over a short period of time.
Maza probably won’t start but I am more worried about Osorio, Salcido, and Suarez based on recent performances. Maza will be fine, very impressive in the air.
The whole team will be fine, they need to concentrate more now that it’s the real thing.
Osorio got crushed and embarrased against Holland on that long run and Salcido has uncharacteristically been getting beat. They just need to concentrate for the full 90 like they usually do.

Big Baller:
You probably didn’t see him on the qualifiers then. he did cost Mexico several goals by doing really really stupid stuff, like returning the ball to Oswaldo without putting any strength to the kick, allowinf adcersaries to get it bakc before it reached him, and even in headers, he usually was the one who lost his assignment.
The guy may be great from the physical aspect of the game, but he has the brains of a malnourished hamster.

Rene: why don’t you read the entire messages on the thread buddy. You have a tendency to not read the entire thread. El Aclantista mentioned Maza, actually costing the team a game.
You refer to players on the team as if you personally know them. Saying things like Guille is a great guy and Maza has hamster’s brains. Bofo and Blanco are bad teamates.
Perception and reality are different things buddy. Unless you really interact with people, the fact is the average fan knows squat.
As for defenders, all defenders get beat, every single defender in the world has gotten beat, in games everybody gets beat at least once from Marquez to Beckenbauer. Henry even made Marquez look silly a couple times. Otherwise every single game would end in a zero-zero scoreline.

hello guys, yes yes yes, it is me. right now I am getting my new futbol shoes polished and ready to go for sunday. I’m waiting while this iranian guy here polishes and finishes up my tacones.(that way i wont slip anymore) While i’m waiting they have an internet station, and of course i wanted to see what my good friends at Worldcupblog.com were up to.
Now for all of the people that have been doubting me. La volpe told me to give it my best by fighting for every ball. He said that every mexican is watching us, so if I don’t give it my all, I’m out. So i want to apologize for the appearance of me not trying hard enough!!.
These new polished shoes should help me out a lot. I will say to you bloggers not to worry about anything. I will start on sunday, that’s all i can tell you. I will do great. Omar and I have a big plan. We will be the top goal scorers for Mexico. our tactics worked on saturday, I kept telling la volpe to put him in with me. So he fianlly listened. Borguetti will do OK, to me he seems like a softie, but we need him in the game at all times.( his headers are the best) La volpe has many plays that his buddy, Phil jackson made him on all corner kicks. Phil and borguetti are buddies, so expect him to net a lot of goals.
All in All. I became a Mexican because i believe that this team can make it all the way. I know i’ll be on the spot light. When the national anthem is played for Mexico, I too will salute….
love you all…
P.S.
leave Zhina a lone, these brazilians get hurt easily..

Rene if you think Iran is a weak Team in soccer i don’t think you know any thing about football, or if you do very limited.I love Mexico and i think Mexico is a great team but we all find out that this Iranin team is not weak and i really hope the Mexican players are not thinking like you do cuz we are in for a looooong night. As a matter a fact i would go as far as saying Iran is prolly the Cameron of 1990 this year.

Big Baller:
I was indeed talking about Maza and his silly mistakes costing the team goals that could have cost Mexico games (fortunatelly for him, we were playing against very weak oposition). I’m not talking about being beaten by other players, but actually making mental mistakes when handling the ball or going for a tackle… you know.. BASIC stuff.
The stuff about Bofo and Blanco has been reported by pretty much everyone, from all sorts of newspapers in Mexico and abroad, commented by everyone in the newscasts, by current and former players and coaches. Plus, being Americanista, I have watched Blanco since day one. It is not perception when your ex-wife files for spousal abuse, when the player punches a reporter, has a lawsuit for punching an employee in a bar, etc. etc. The guy is just plain unstable. He can be a great person one minute (reports of him helping out those in need are also quite numerous), but can be a total ass the next. PLus we all saw him with America the last 6 months… he was not in playing condition.

Lavolpe is probably going to bring Maza late in the 2nd half if we’re leading….Big Baller didn’t you see Holland’s game he made a mistake not even I would have done in High School he just doesn’t seem mentally strong but well I hope Lavolpe proves me wrong.
I’m freaking a liitle with the sad news of Oswaldo is he going to start? I just hope the guys is ok family is above anything(yes even the WC).Is the team planning to have him on Sunday? I really haven’t seen much of Corona is he good? What do you guys think?
My deepest condolences for Oswaldo and his family.

Maza did not play in the Holland game.
You may be referring to Osorio getting pick-pocketed as the last man back, around the midfield area.

Valco:
I challenge you to find a post from me saying Iran is a weak team. The only negative I have given to the Iranian is that their defense is not that good, from what I could see in previous matches and read in articles. Croatia should have won that friendly match by 2 goals at least. They have however a scary attack.
Big Baller: I was not talking about the Holland game, nor do I believe Aclantista was either. Maybe you need to re-read the thread, buddy.

READ THE THREAD PREVIOUS TO MY POST.
