Down to Business

After a week of physical fitness training, the Tri has begun to work on tactics and schemes in addition to continued fitness and conditioning work. They will be working for the next few days behind closed doors. Ricardo Lavolpe will speak to the press on Friday.

The two players who were questionable due to injury appear to be fully recovered. Zinha has looked good coming off knee surgery. Nevertheless, he has been taken out of practices early to ice his knee as a precautionary measure. Jesus Arellano seems to have shed any lingering effects of his injuries, and Claudio Suarez is running like a young gazelle.

Chiquis Garcia believes that this pre-tournament program will be more beneficial than the one from the last world cup. “We also had 60 days to prepare, but we were closed off. It was tedious. We also hardly played any friendlies, so in that respect, playing them will help us get into a rhythm.”

Because of the FIFA-mandated 10 day vacation, it looks like Rafa and Guille will not join the team until late May, which means they will join up when the team is already in Europe. They won’t play vs. France, but they may play vs. Holland. It will only give them 10 days to work with the team. Jared’s season ends next weekend, so hopefully they won’t make him fly back to Mexico just to turn around and fly back a few days later.

We have 43 days to go, and I am busting. I’m busting.
