Borgetti out 2 games at least (and other news)

June 13th, 2006 | By: Luis Carlos | 15 Comments »

Jared Borgetti will not play against Angola and is doubtfull against Portugal. If Jared injury does not progress, La Volpe will consider FIFA’s option to substitute the player, we still have to wait for the medical results, but this could be more serious that we thought. The doctors are saying Borgetti could be out for the entire tournament.

In other news:

+ Rafael Marquez will stay in Barcelona after saying no to Milan, Chelsea and other teams.
+ FIFA could ask La Volpe to stop smoking on the bench.
+ Pavel Pardo’s injury is not one to be concerned of.
+ Koller (Checz Republic)injury to be taken serious.
+ Sweden players fistfight after tie with Trinidad and Tobago.
+ Parreira sais that only Brasil can beat Brasil. LOL
+ Mexico Vs Iran was the most viewed program on spanish television in the United states with +5 million viewers.
+ Ballack listed as probable against Costa Rica
+ Rooney listed as probable in next England game (Thursday)

My picks

Corea del Sur 2 - 0 Togo
Francia 1 - 1 Suiza
Brasil 3 - 2 Croatia

My questions

If, pretty BIG IF, Borgetti doesn’t get better, who would you bring to finish te cup, Medina, Bofo, Marquez Lugo, Landin, Blanco?
What are your picks for tomorrow and against Angola?
What’s the best game of the remaining first games?
How will Brasil do in their debut?
What do you think of La Volpe now?

Luis Carlos, first of all muchas gracias for the great info on this blog, what a cool way for us to participate interactivelly during the world cup.

I’m looking forward to see Brazil today, but can’t wait until Friday 2pm Mexico City time to watch the game with a bunch of amigos and hopefully make another trip to celebrate to El Angel!

My picks for today to make it interesting…

** Corea del Sur 1 - 3 Togo
Let them be the first African country to make an statement!

Francia 1 - 2 Suiza

** The Shock of the day!

Brasil 4 - 2 Croatia

** Samba time, 2 for Ronaldo 2 for Ronaldinho

Answering your questions of the day:

** If, pretty BIG IF, Borgetti doesn’t get better, who would you bring to finish te cup, Medina, Bofo, Marquez Lugo, Landin, Blanco?

### I sincerely doubt that they would bring a new player, but let the wild hoopla be created if they ask Cuauhtemoc to pack and bring his Cuauhteminha to Germany!

** What are your picks for tomorrow and against Angola?

### see above, and I would like to see El Tri putting more goals in the bank: Mexico 2 Angola 0

** What’s the best game of the remaining first games?

### Today’s Brazil vs Croatia should be one of them, Holland vs Argentina should be a great one as well and of course Mexico vs Portugal

** How will Brasil do in their debut?

### They need to win convingcinly!

** What do you think of La Volpe now?

### All along I have been of the thought of let the man do his work, besides all the controversy, I have been glad all along that he has been the sole coach through the whole 4 year process

I would definetily send Lozano. He has de experience with the team, and knows what is expected of him…but let’s hope Borgetti gets better (and Franco to start scoring).

Send Lozano? Why? He is not even a forward.

Plus, it has already been stated that he would be back for the next round, and unless something weird happens, Mexico will be able to make it to the best 16.

I don’t think we need to call anyone else at this point.

Thank you Edu for always answer my blogs and for giving your point of view.

I’ll continue to post interactive blogs so we can participate in the diferent points of views.

Lozano in facto wouldn’t be an option since we would definetely need a striker, since we’re playing with 3 forwards.

I don’t think we would need a sub for Borgetti, since he’ll probably be fine, that’s why I added a BIG IF, I still think La Volpe has an ACE under the slieve, just in case. I also wanted to know who would you bring.

Bring Vela :D Hehehe… (Why not?)

Now seriously, I would personally consider Blanco to be the obvious choice… taking into account the lack of ofensive creativity the team showed in the prep games… (Although I must admit that, against Iran, Zinha performed waaaaay above the expected)…

No, never Blanco. He’s OK in league play, at least he’s interesting, but he’s far too self-centred, unstable and immature for World Cup. This guy attracts red cards faster than a warm taco in the hot sun attracts flies! Besides LaVolpe understands well the negative impact this guy has on teams (2002 WC disaster, America’s sad record the past few years as the most over-paid, under-achieving team in league history)and he would bring over every single Mexican player in the 1st. division before Blanco. (And then he’d still consider recalling Garcia Aspe from retirement before Blanco!)
No, much better, if FIFA would permit it, a proven “braveheart” like Bofo. But I think its all for nothing anyway. Just some “chit-chat” to kill the time until Angola, because Borgetti is only out for this round and if Mexico continues to play like they did on Sunday, we should easily walk through Group D.
Then on to the Netherlands (or Argentina)and THEN we’re going to need Borgetti. (and many an AK-47….)

i would bring bofo, i know that many people don’t like hime but he makes good plays and always finds a way to put the ball in the feet o the forward. then you could put him just below franco and bravo. just my opinion

Many forwards?

Without Borgetti we are down to 3, and Lavolpe puts usually 2 or even 3 of them at the time. So what happens if we need to sub one?
