Borgetti, Bravo poised to start vs. Ghana
Jared Borgetti and Omar Bravo will be the starting pair of forwards as Mexico take on Ghana in the last match of the feast of friendlies that have taken place all over the wolrd in the last few days. It was an easy decision for coach Ricardo Lavolpe to make. Luis Angel Landin is making his national team debut, and Guillermo Franco is still not 100% physically. It is expected, though, that Franco may play around 30 minutes.
Borgetti arrived from Bolton earlier in the week, and is looking forward to wearing the national team colors for the first time since September. His stay at Bolton has yielded mixed results: he has only cracked the starting XI a few times, but has netted 6 goals in competitions. We’ll have to see if Jared’s inactivity across the Pond will affect him. One wonders, will he be in game shape? On the other hand, he will undoubtedly be fresher then the rest of the team.
While Borgetti’s spot on the National team is seemingly secure, Bravo is hoping a good performance will cement his place on the squad. He only has 1 goal so far in the clausura, but he an accomplished goal scorer—excellent with the head despite his smallish size. Lavolpe has said that if he calls you up, you have a chance to be on the team. So let’s hope Bravo makes the most of his opportunity.
The rest of the squad probables:
GK: Oswaldo Sanchez
DEF: Gringo Castro, Maza Rodriguez, Ricardo Osorio, Joel Huiqui, Mario Perez
MID: Diego Martinez, Lucho Perez, Pavel Pardo
FOR: Jared Borgetti, Omar Bravo

This is a good squad to face an african team, I’d personally would have liked to see Blanco and Borgetti together, but we all know he’s not healthy, it’s not very often that Mex gets to play a team from africa and since we have Ghana in the WC their style of play is similar it’ll be great information for the scouting reports.
