Barcelona´s code of conduct seeks to curb late night partying
A player code of conduct has just been approved by Barcelona´s capitan Carlos Puyol and sub capitan Xavi which seeks to up hold the high standard of the club. I heard this from a show on Fox Sports Argentina, can´t recall which one. This comes on the heels of Ronaldinho´s media diaster earlier this season when he was caught going out late to clubs partying before games. Also at the end of last season, when Barcelona lost the Spanish title to Real Madrid by one point, the media erupted when Barcelona players and the coach refused to talk to them in a timely manner.
Some of the things the code seeks to enforce:
-Players are not allowed to go out to party 48 hours before a game
-Players aren´t to promote or endorse anything that isn´t related to the club (not sure if this refers to endorsements?)
-Players are to make time to speak to the media twice a week
-During breaks players are to let the club know where they are at all times
-Players are not to participate in any sports that might endanger their health and ability to perform club duties
Commentators from Fox Sports also noted interestingly that Deco has come out publically stating that he will continue going out late to party as long as he can still make it to practices on time. Thank you, Deco!
