Bad Week for the Young Ones
This week the senior side had success against Bolivia, finally winning a game and with a 5-1 score. The same couldn’t be said of the young U-20 Mexican side as they crashed out of the CONCACAF qualifying for the U-20 Egypt World Cup.
At the U-20 competition the US, Honduras, Costa Rica, and Trinidad and Tobago will represent the CONCACAF region in Egypt in September.
Mexico did not win a single game losing to Costa Rica 1-0 in their opener, 2-0 to Canada, and drawing 2-2 against Trinidad and Tobago.
Also, Giovanni Dos Santos was sent out on loan to Ipswich Town from Tottenham Hotspurs. Gio moved from high-flying Barcelona to receive more playing time, but it seems like his plan backfired and he’s moving down the football hierarchy.
And finally, Guillermo Cantu stepped down from his position of Director of National Teams, taking the blame for the U-20’s failure.
