Are we going to see the Golden Boy?

June 15th, 2006 | By: John | 7 Comments »

He didn’t play in either friendly in Europe. He’s holding on to him, a secret weapon, why unleash him now, we thought. The Iran came and went, and he didn’t see the pitch, above all for tactical reasons. Mexico needed, and got, midfield control. So tomorrow, are we going to see Andres Guardado or not?

I think we will against Portugal if Mexico wins tomorrow. That is, unless Lavolpe has a specific preference in terms of the team he would like to play against in the second round (again, if Mexico wins tomorrow).

Or, if the match is decided by the second half (hardly likely), he might put him, Gringo and maybe Cabrito so they can get some activity.

I’m almost certain that Ramon Morales will start tomorrow. Call it a hunch.

This secret weapon talk is entertaining. My vote is for Lavolpe to give Guardado lots of minutes and Maza minutes believe it or not.

Reasoning is to get the nerves out is just as important as safekeeping them til’ it’s all on the line. Same goes for Arellano. If they all play awesome, like we know they will, it will give coaches headaches guessing what Mexico’s formation will be.

I agree with Jack, Torrado looks shaky and slow, his role should be limited to a sub unless somebody goes down. We do need his long blast coming off the bench though.

I think we will see him if in the second half, only if we are up like 2-0 or something.

I’m actually getting a little worried here. I mean, i’m more worried about this game then the iran game. These guys will not bea easy.

Remember not so long ago when we got the match schedule, we thought angolas was going to be our easiest game..
i really hope we pull it through!!

go mex

the nerves have definitely kicked in already. Angola should be an easy win but they gave Portugal a lot of trouble so you never know.
