A European friendly tour next year?

I´m not the only one who doesn´t like Mexico scheduling friendlies with the likes of Guatemala. In a post game show on Mexico´s Televisa Deportes 10 pm show, one of the commentators remarked how disgusted he was Mexico kept sceduling friendlies with Central American teams! Then the lead commentator blurted out that a European tour for the Mexico senior National team is being planned by the FMF for some time next year!!! Sounds like someone heard my rants about going to Europe!

Not sure what time the tour might be scheduled, it has not been confirmed yet, sounded like it is still in the planning stages by the FMF. It doesn´t sound like it could happen at the beginning of the year as a warm-up for the pre-Olympic qualifying, Sanchez already has enough to worry about until then since his three european stars, presumably Castillo, Marquez and Giovani won´t be made available by their clubs for the qualifying rounds! Sounds like if the tour is approved it would be a summer thing as a warm-up for the Olympics…

In other news, Sanchez said after the Nigeria game he is interested in scheduling a friendly sometime in November, if an appropiate opponent can be found by then. Until then I´ll keep my fingers crossed!

If Mexico does decide to go on a European friendly tour, who should they play and why?

Friendlies against the top powers like France, Germany, Italy, and England would be absolutely wonderful. Spain and Holland wouldn’t hurt either. In fact, any European competition would be great, as long as the FMF puts sport over money. Mexico has recently only been playing in the US and with mediocre teams so the FMF can cash in on overpriced ticket sales, and this needs to stop. Playing against Guatemala in an absurdly-marked American Football field is absolutely disgusting. Again, FMF needs to put the sport over the money.
